What’s Been Happening Since the Storm

We know that you all have been seeing the reports from the storm that hit western North Carolina. We have been having a lot of problems with communication and we’ve had very limited phone and internet service.

Here is an update on what’s happening at the railroad.

These pictures show the storm damage, downed trees, and our volunteers clearing the trees off of the track.

We are so grateful for the Lord’s protection and as far as we can tell all of our volunteers are safe. Our depot and yard area is in very good condition with very minimal damage. We had over 2 miles of our track underwater, and our mountain had many, many trees on the track.

The damage to the tracks was extensive and we continue to work on the railroad so we can begin running trolleys as soon as possible. Thank you to all of our CML volunteers who worked very hard along with our professional tree fallers.

Thank you for all of your support and prayers. A very special thank you to Mr. David Carver with C&C Septic and Grading for generously donating two loads of dirt to fill one of the big washouts. Special thanks to Mr. Brody Hunt and Mr. Chris M. Atwood who helped us clear away some huge trees. These gentlemen are true professionals.
